Smooth flavors of caramelized onions, aged provolone and batter-fried Portobello mushroom on a toasted poppy seed roll.
1-5.3 oz. JJ’s Tavern Patty Burger
1 each poppy seed roll, toasted
1 oz. caramelized onions
1 slice aged provolone
1 oz. Portobello mushroom, sliced thin
As needed Tempura or thin batter
1. Cook burger to an internal temperature of 160°F. Melt aged provolone cheese on top of the burger.
2. Lightly batter and fry the Portobello mushroom strips in 350°F oil—drain and set aside.
3. Spread horseradish sauce evenly over the crown and heel of the bun.
4. Place burger on the heel, top with caramelized onions and crispy Portobello mushroom strips. Place the crown on the side and serve with French fries or desired sides.
Substitute some shaved Parmesan for the provolone. Prepare the caramelized onions with small amount of olive oil. Grill or roast Portobello mushroom.
Try a stacked burger: two patties sandwiched with melted provolone cheese. Top with mushrooms.
Use an artisan-style bun or a house-made roll with onion and provolone cheese included in the dough.
